    Illa is the weird uncle in the clan that everybody thought was secretly a genius. He didn't travel much, but where he did he explored every aspect that he could. For that reason alone, he surpassed Zax in exploring, and why he was immediately appointed Chief Explorer. Still, he couldn't let go of his old habit of experimenting with brews, which is why he'll likely retire from exploring when there is no hatchling to train.
  • T R A I T S
    Illa shared a rather complicated relationship with everyone in the clan. He is Zax's second-in-command, partly because if Zax doesn't know of something he'll know about it. This convenient arrangement which allowed Zax to exert influence in the clan, while letting Illa practice his trade, is the main reason they're amiable towards each other despite their contrary nature. Illa's position as second-in-command also made him responsible for the clan hoard; something that he doesn't like to do.
    Often, Aelia has to do it for him. It let her get away with taking some of the rarer materials in further improving the lair, which normally Zax wouldn't agree to. Still, doing the hoard is similar to cataloging taxes, and Aelia hated that Illa can easily skip out just because she wanted to cut corners with Zax.
    Surprisingly, Illa get along the best with Brocade. Her simple, playful nature made her accept Illa's eccentricities, and even helped him sometimes in testing his creations.
