Biography
Markogth's family made a fortune selling magic mushrooms, and as soon as he inherited their wealth, he turned around and built a circus. Well the truth is, he built two circuses. The first one, he managed himself, and he did so badly that between clashing personalities and sub-par acts, it went bust within a few months. The second one didn't get so much as a tentpole in the ground before the "manager" he hired up and split with the money. But a dream is a dream, and finally, he met and hired Gilderoy, who politely, but firmly, steered him toward a much more lucrative casino venture. Without the burdon of management (Which, despite his family's best attempts, he was never qualified to handle), Markogth was finally able to pursue his true love, showbusiness. He introduces acts with incredible flair and panache- had he any other skills beyond bombastic charisma, he'd be quite the showman himself. He likes to bounce concepts off the other acts, and as he pays their salary, they always smile and nod and tell him what a good idea he has (Except for Pagliacci. He no longer pings ideas off of Pagliacci.). Alas, when he brings it to Gilderoy, he never seems to make the cut. Still, he is the first hurdle to pass for those auditioning to be regular shows as the Prince. It’s an easy hurdle, to be sure, but he has at least learned to turn away repeat performers- one can only keep so many magicians on staff, and Gilderoy has firmly told him that two is more than enough. His cape is actually his familiar, Flourish. He's rarely seen without them draped over his shoulders, and allegedly, he's had them since childhood. Flourish, for their part, seems rather devoted toward keeping Markogth safe. Someone ought to be. |
