While he's the same age as his brother (Quetzalcoatl, another mage) his skill level is much higher. It's not that he's had more practice of studied harder at all-he just doesn't fight it. He's more relaxed about what he can use it for, and that's made it easier for the magic to make itself at home in his bones and his blood. In a way (thanks to his abilities as an Empath) he's closer to understanding the rest of the clan than anyone else, but that might not be the best thing. Especially when his morals run about as grey as he is.

Tez is a rather extroverted dragon and he enjoys surrounding himself with as many people as possible. Of all paths for that to take him on though, he didn't see it being the one he found at all. Mayahuel originally ran the daycare by herself when she joined this clan. Quickly upon meeting her though he sensed a mutual interest and positioned himself there to become close to her. What was originally a ploy to get her attention though soon turned into actual enjoyment. It seems to be the hatchlings just as much as Mayahuel that keep him from overthinking his abilities or investigating them further
