Gwyneira had been groomed from birth to spread Arien’s influence. While she did have many older siblings, each of them eventually chose to leave their home, for adventure, or glory, or an aversion to ruling -- but not Gwyn. She would follow her parents around everywhere, eager to learn more about their powerful realm. When she was younger, Gwyn swore that she would never leave; why would she want to? Arien was magnificent, glorious, her whole world -- and she was its princess.
And then they met the Eira Guild. Ceridwen and Aeron knew how powerful Arien was, of course, and, after one glance at Gwyn, mating just happened to come up in the conversation. Arien was floundering -- Gwyn’s parents weren’t young anymore, too old now to have more children, and the realm had began to struggle under their rule. Without a strong male heir -- most didn’t consider Gwyn a good heir, because of her gender and personality -- Arien’s subjects questioned their rulers. Perhaps it was time to overthrow the dynasty -- but Arien wasn’t strong enough by itself to safely get through such a radical change. Gwyn had grown since her stubborn childhood, and wasn’t as set against leaving Arien as she used to be. She would do anything for Arien -- and if mating Heilyn would help her home...
