Boris, born an Imperial dragon, was known throughout the lands of the Sunbeam Ruins for her beauty and her talent with the creation of illusions. She was incredibly prideful, and would spite others for daring to interrupt if she should be giving a presentation, using her clever tongue and colorful illusions to scold them. On one such occasion, she lashed out at a young pearlcatcher who laughed at Boris's most prized illusory story- that of a heroic battle between dragonkind and the beast clans, who were possessed by the wicked shade and must be cleansed. The pearlcatcher was so badly frightened by Boris's tirade of rage that she attempted to bolt in a panic, and tore her left wing clean through the membrane. From then on, even after healers came to aid her recovery, the pearlcatcher could no longer fly.

Guilt consumed Boris, who realized that her selfishness and imperious nature had contributed every bit as much as the Pearlcatcher's reckless nature, and she could not bear the thought that she had caused another dragon-- a friend, at that-- such pain. She bequeathed her treasures to the Pearlcatcher and embarked on a journey that would take her far from her home. Seeking to discover just what kind of person she was, Boris traveled to each corner of the known world; north to the Shattered Plains, west to Starfall Isles, and even south to the tip of the Southern Icefield. Along the way, she encountered a powerful Ridgeback dragon named Indira, and from Indira Boris learned a great deal about herself, and about her desires. She decided to follow Indira's clan, eventually joining them. Her massive size, as an Imperial dragon, was a bit of a problem for communications, even with a Ridgeback, however-- so she used the last of her fame from the days when she had performed miraculous illusions, and an old friend found her a scroll of shape alteration, granting it to her as repayment for a debt between them.

Though she is now a member of the Nightwatch that Indira leads, Boris still enjoys performing, and teaches the children of Clan Nehara about the history of the world as a way to practice.
