One side of a cheerful conversation can usually be heard from within the morgue when Dr. Rongeur is in. It takes a special kind of personality to pick the career path of a coroner, and Phillip is definitely an... interesting person. When asked why he decided to work with dead patients rather than the living, he says they simply listen better. He also 'kinda dabbles' (his words) in embalming, claiming he thought about being a makeup artist at some point before switching majors. Most would shy away from asking about his physical appearance, but the few brave (or perhaps rude) individuals that ask about the scars covering most of his body get any response from "what scars?" to "I fought a meat grinder" with the same, unfaltering, lopsided smile.

While this is all innocent enough, there's a suspicious lack of records beyond his academics to back up his stories, and when people ask for details, he changes the subject with a hint of urgency. Behind all his eccentricities, while he hasn't done anything to warrant investigation, there's just something off about the guy, and nobody in town has managed to crack the code so far. It could be that he's just another innocently strange person in Alverton, the town certainly has quite a few, it's the fact that absolutely no one knows any personal details about the guy that leaves citizens a bit wary.
