Calamity
The Redeemer
Calamity has been aware of her cursed heritage since she was a hatchling, since she was old enough to be aware. By the time she hatched her siblings had all long since left their mother. Calamity was the only one in her nest, a runt, a tiny thing clinging to Apocalypse's tail. She bore the arcane markings of her mother and the dark, twisting scars of the Shade--but though everyone expected it, the Shade did not come for her. Days turned to weeks, weeks to months. Somehow Calamity escaped the Shade's touch.

Like her mother before her, Calamity was fostered out to a Wind clan while still young. Dreams plagued her, visions of the brothers and sisters she'd never met, the cousins chained by their ancestry. The dreams of the Gatekeeper Naomi were the worst, the ones that left her shaking for hours afterward.

The nightmares promised that she had merely been overlooked, not forgotten.

There had to be a way to end her family's enslavement. Calamity has devoted her life to researching the Shade and tracking down the wayward members of her kin. Her dreams leave little doubt of the fate that eventually awaits her, but maybe she can manage to save someone, anyone, before she too succumbs.
