Biography

Toxin Dragons are known for their bright green scales, covered by a slimy iridescent sheen, their scorched black wings, their rotted paws and the pools of pure, red blood that are their eyes. They are the result of the Toxin DNA strand, currently carried only by Ridgebacks, Pearlcatchers, Wildclaw and Spirals of The Scarred Wasteland. These dragons tend to be cunning and malicious--just as their creator and first Toxin Dragon was. The story of how they came to be is a sad and chilling one. It all started with a beautiful pastel Ridgeback lady called Alpine. She was the fairest dragon of the Murder clan--and thus, she had no place within the clan, and was shunned by the other dragons. She had no other home, and couldn't bear to leave the clan for an unknown reason. One day, the shame of being an outcast grew so much, that Alpine ran away. She flew very far, travelling through the Scarred Wasteland, which her clan called their home. She flew and flew until her muscles were sore and her wings cramped. She landed violently near a strange, glowing green pustule on the ground, as they are usually seen throughout the Plague Lands. So much was her sorrow, that she didn't notice the area around her at all, too busy wallowing in her grief. She sat motionless at the rim of the pit--thinking and wishing she had been borne as a hideous monstrosity, dark and malevolent, so she could fit in the clan that she foolishly called her home. The edge to the pit she was sitting on suddenly broke. Alpine fell into the pustule rapidly, her grand form pulling her deep within the glowing wound. She tried to scream for help, but the glowing green viscous liquid got in her mouth and nostrils, choking her off. The sheer heat of the infection burned her flesh, prolonging the pain in a way that the fires of the Ashfall Wastes could never do. Time slowed as Alpine clawed at the walls within the pustule; with great force and determination, the Ridgeback clawed her way to the surface and dragged herself out of the wound. She stood shaking there; noticing for the first time that her pastel visage was now gone, a twisted green and black taking its place. Pain coursed through her skin, but she ignored it in favor of inspecting herself. Laughter bubbled up in her throat--she was truly hideous now. She laughed hysterically; her skin was slimy and covered in green ooze; her wings and parts of her body were all scorched black. Her eyes were now bloodied. She felt broken, in the way that could never be healed, both physically and mentally. She found a twisted form of happiness in that. Her home would finally accept her, and all the children she'll bear. |
