It was for this reason, perhaps, that Leyra had deserved to stay when she had grown. She had grown close to her father because of his constant attention. Of course Leyra asked where her mother had went, and was proud of Emrys for being called away. Though she never knew her mother, Leyra still missed the thought of her and did the best she could to help her clan. Strava was proud of his daughter and her ambitions. However, nothing could have prepared Strava for Leyra's abilities or what made her so attractive to Plague entities. The day the Deadlock Desciple wandered into camp, the dragons it greeted went into a tizzy. A Plague Guardian, here? Why? Sprig assumed it would visit the Plague representative in their clan, but was shocked to see it beeline straight to Leyra. The female Skydancer was as shocked as everyone else and asked why the Disciple had chosen her. Everyone's questions were answered when the Plague demon swiftly made a shallow cut in Leyra's arm. Black ooze drippled out and hissed as it hit the ground. Poison ran through Leyra's veins, and not a soul knew until that day. The Disciple had told her that it was looking for a master who's survival for poison was unmatched, and Leyra was the dragon they were drawn to. The best way to survive a threat was to become it, Leyra supposed. Though she and the rest of her clan were shellshocked at this development, Leyra looked to her grandmother for support and asked if she could join her healer's circle indirectly. If she was immune to poisons, she could help her clan by creating antitoxins. Leyra travels every so often for to discover new venoms and toxins, freely being bit, and was startled by a dragon shouting out in alarm when she let herself get bit by a Serpenta. The startled cry was from a (rather beautiful, Leyra thought) Spiral who chased the beast off. Leyra, angry that her quarry had been scared away calmed when she understood that her "savior" had seen the yellow sheen in her eyes and knew she wasn't Plague born. Curious, Iguana introduced herself and got to know what Leyra was up to. Immediately invested, Leyra could not shake off Iguana as she led Leyra to the best spots to find many venomous beasts and plants in her area. The two dragons got to know each other so well that Leyra invited Iguana to move back with her to the Hewn City, promising that they would visit the wastes every so often. Or, she would, if she wasn't interrupted by a very excited "yes" from the Spiral and her own familiar. They soon became life-mates, and Leyra's disciple approved of their courtship. |
