"Compass, compass, compass," mutter the Snapper, checking and rechecking his pockets. "Where did I put... Oh, there it is!" It had, of course, fallen on the ground. Onir might not have been the bravest explorer or the smartest or the most capable or, well, really, he wasn't a very good explorer. But what he lacked he more than made up for with heart!
He pumped his fist in the air. "Let's get the adventure started!!" He followed Natalie Draco eagerly into the dungeon. There's no room now for fear in his rather simple but sweet brain, only excitement.
The first room was dark and dusty, full of old runes, drawings of dragons in the wall and pebbles on the floor. At the end of the room there was a heavy stone door. Natalie lifted the torch and read it aloud.
"Only those who truly know their cousins in Earth may enter, say their names and you shall be welcomed, fail to do so and you will regret the day you hatched!"
Natalie looks at you. "A bit creepy isn't it? I wonder what this means, 'cousins in Earth'?...Mmm...Oh I remember seeing this in a scroll I read back in the association's library! That's an old way to refer to the many Earth Subspecies we have in Dragonhome. Maybe you know some of them? Consider this a test, young apprentice! Look into your books or memory, find me at least three of them, that might be enough!"
"Earth Subspecies? Why I know that! Of course I do." He thought for a moment and then another moment and then for several long, awkward moments. "Oh, it's coming to me now, I think. There are the Geodes, Mossrock, and Ore Veins. All of them quite beautiful, really."
"Well done, that's why the association sent you! It's clear you have a lot of knowledge when it comes to subspecies!”
“Now we should move forward, we can never trust these ancient dungeons right?" Onir and Natalie pushed the heavy doors together and found an old chest. Natalie opened it and picked up a bunch of scrolls tied together. She took one of them out to inspect it, laughing right after.
"Would you look at that, well you may keep it, I'm sure I won't need it!"
This room was more of a hall full of paintings of dragons seated next to each other. They were all very interesting looking, most were wearing sparkling trinkets, others were not as shiny but certainly no less impressive. Every dragon represented on the left side of the room was facing the right and every dragon on the right side was facing the left. They were all looking at the gate at the end of the hallway.
The gate had inscriptions all over it and a faded drawing of what once was an ancient clan leader. Some fancy-looking bottles were placed next to it, untouched for centuries. Natalie studied the runes.
"I see... well, listen, we need to draw! N-no, I'm not an artist myself, I got a 'F' in finger painting back when I was a hatchling, but we don't have a choice. This door will only open if a leader is represented in the gallery... so, I will carefully take their sacred paint in these bottles and I don't know how to start... How does a powerful leader looks like?? Maybe your lair has one? I don't mind the breed or the age just help me out here okay?"
The door opened and Natalie lead them through a hallway full of dragon statues. Suddenly Onir heard a click as one of someone stepped on a trap by accident. The many statues' eyes started to glow, their mouths opened and many snakes began crawling from it.
Onir and Natalie jumped up on a stone table at the center of the room. “You're safe, for now...” Onir thinks, “but for how long?” What had he gotten himself into??
"We have to brew a 'Snake go away’ mix. I can make one, but we are gonna have to show some team work, I will say what the recipe needs and you pass me the ingredients for each, okay? Just follow my lead and you will be able to make one, quickly!”
That adventure ended abruptly and moved on to the next one....
Natalie and Onir walked through a long hallway and the silence of it was a bit uncomfortable. For some reason Onir felt like it was meant to be that way, almost like a stronger presence was there watching and demanding silence and concentration.
And indeed Onir saw two eyes in the darkness, two brown eyes of a tall and bulky statue of the Earthshaker himself. Natalie bowed her head in respect for the image, by doing so, she saw some runes on the ground and read them.
"In the presence of the Earthshaker one shall prove worthy of moving ahead. Share your recent achievements in this room, prove that you've been serving his cause.” Natalie looked at Onir and whispered, "Have you been doing anything lately or in the past? Maybe you participated on some sort of event? If you did so, you must share it on his wall!"
