Zhercaen can tell you many stories and very few of them will ever hold a grain of truth in them. For him the truth is an unimportant fickle thing, much like a shadow. Because the truth is what people want to believe; what they do believe. The majority decides what is right and those who saw the true truth soon forget. It is not worth time and effort to preach truths that others call lies… but to sell them is another beast entirely. People are more likely to believe these hated truths if you make them work for it and now you too have remade the truth. It is a game that Zhercaen knows well and plays even better.

He started off as a hatchling in a clan of subtle magics -- Hallowbranch -- and for a time he was happy there. He learnt the ways of nature, alchemy and witchcraft; the first magic. Here Zhercaen learnt to change his shape so that he might better walk amongst the People and a being as fickle as him holds many change. His shadow a pliant and attentive companion.

When Hallowbranch grew too stifling for Zhercaen he left and he sought out the darkest, dirtiest and most corrupted dragon and beastkin cities in the Tangled Woods. He learnt many seemingly useless things, party tricks and slights of hand.

The most interesting thing he learnt however was how to animate his shadow, to make it look, listen and seek for him.

For a while he made him home in one of the most murky of all the dragon cities in the Tangled Woods, a place called the Umbacheo. It is place that is very hard to find, impossible without an invitation. To get such an invitation you need to impress one of Umbacheo five ‘Umbral Lords’, the richest and most influential of the cities filth.

So Zhercaen spent some time as a consort and concubine of the Lord Ra’shina. It was something that the skydancer enjoyed immensely. He was dressed in the very finest of fineries and he got to tell the Umbral Lord whatever truths he thought he needed to hear. In those years he was powerful, in a subtle way, like the magic he had once been taught.

However his life in luxury did not last forever, Ra’shina was killed by a rival lord and his successor was not interesting to Zhercaen. The successor tried to hold on to him, but the skydancer left and never looked back.

Not soon after Zhercaen was brought into the fold of a rather ambitious serthis warlord called Halmoath. Here he became Halmoath’s favoured little spy, for none of his other servants could do the things that Zhercaen could, they could not go the places the disguised dragon could. The skydancer shamelessly used this to his advantage and quickly he rose Halmoath’s favour. Living with the serthis Zhercaen learnt new things about alchemy, and how to bring down dragons many times his size.

He met Sabaneta sometime after Warlord Halmoath was brought down and replaced. Zhercaen fled on quick wings and the serthis were too slow to bring the skydancer down, but for the sake of their new warlord they told the truth that he had died. And so Sabaneta found a dead dragon looking for new things to entertain him.

The Handler caught is interest and when she called upon him so that he might aid her Zhercaen came quietly but willingly.

- Lurker : Zhercaen has acquired a rather uncommon skill only ever learnt by shadow-dragons. He has fed magic into his shadow over many years and now it has come to life, he can use it like a living creature but it cannot venture far from him. It is so thick with magic that the absence of light does not erase it.
