Biography
Furwisp is my Custom Progenitor. It is impossible to trade her. Please do not make offers.
DRAGONS WITH LORE:
Dragons who have decided to share their stories with the world.
Furwisp (You are here!)
Tuftstride
OCCUPATIONS:
Dragons who have taken it upon themselves to hold valuable information to the clan, including food, familiars, and desired farmers.
Furwisp (You are here!): Clan Founder and Storyteller. Furwisp
Tuftstride: Clan Founder and Pilgrimage Coordinator. Tuftstride guides dragons in the lair to become great for future servitude to the Arcanist due to his natural skills as an adventurer. He also organizes payment plans and keeps a list of those in progress.
Fleetpaw: Head Alchemist. Fleetpaw manages a personal alchemy lab when he is not working at Baldwin's. His clanmates and coworkers tend to question the legality of his work, but are quickly redirected by stating science is a free pass to experiment on anything. He also runs a drop-bag stand just on the edge of the Raffle Congregation Site.
Restellar: Master Familiar Handler. While his list is not always up to date, Restellar keeps a more or less reliable list of Familiars living in the clan, including ones not currently staying with a dragon and those who have awakened under their care.
Renault: Desirable Items Handler. Renault is in charge of holding and updating the clan's Wishlist, items she is actively trying to obtain. Assume Renault to be the trading ambassador of the clan.
Bander: Head Scientist and Realm Ambassador. Bander's personal brand of mad science has opened up rifts into other universes. He can lead you to handlers in other realms who are raising dragons and pets alike.
LORE
Furwisp's lone egg hatched long before she was located by a Guardian couple amidst the trees of Starwood Strand. The guardians, knowing they had found a new charge, took her in as one of their own, carrying the still damp hatchling to their caravan. Said caravan consisted of dragons who had lost their way but decided to carry on nonetheless. The population included Guardians who failed to protect their original charges, Pearlcatchers that misplaced their pearls, and even one or two coatl lacking brilliant hues in their plumage.
But while the doctors that traveled with them were certainly a wonderful pack and could treat anything from a scratched snout to internal complications, even they weren't prepared for the illness that struck Furwisp's new parents...
Only recently a young adult, she was sniffing out possible food sources when the news came to her. The caravan absolutely reeked of death, heartbreak, and sorrow, as well as a few unique scents that were related but somehow different to the smell of sickness. Furwisp always knew her parents smelled "kind of wrong", but she had always assumed it was the smell of age.
Stealing a week or so of rations from each food source, she fled into the night, looking to find her own home. She would meet countless dragons during her pilgrimage, including many a Guardian older and healthier than those who raised her. Unfortunately, none of them, when asked, could tell her what the illness was or where it came from. Asking this question of so many dragons augmented her memory in ways that only a handful of tundras in a colony would experience without being born with it.
Eventually, Furwisp would come to a lone mountain, yet untouched by time and dragons. It was big, it was beautiful, and most importantly, it was sturdy enough to contain a large family. Naturally, she would get to work mining out the foundations of a new lair, soon to be joined by the first dragon she'd met in a very long time. His first words were "You are a hard working and dedicated person, even in the face of such clear despair." From then on, she knew he was a keeper.
Tuftstride soon disappeared from the clan without a trace, nobody knew where he went or what he was doing, and their group was getting a bit too big to live in the mountains. They moved from their rocky origins into a glimmering forest, the perfect environment to start a new caravan. During this time, Furwisp eventually recovered from her grief and continued her work for the good of the clan, but then Tuftstride came back. He couldn't quite remember who Furwisp was, but he knew they were close. Furwisp was so glad to have him back that the clan's productivity increased once more. It wasn't long before they outgrew their home once more and gained enough respect to move to the Focal Point. Such close proximity to the Observatory was a huge benefit to their research, and now they must be even closer than ever to a cure... right?
To this day, she works as the head researcher into the illness that stole her old life from her. Her innate ability to sniff out the warning signs has proven valuable, and they are making great progress, occasionally sending reports to the Arcanist and even far abroad to the distant Stormcatcher. Maybe one day they'll be able to identify the cause and eventually cure it...
