Biography

History:
Deiga was born like any other Fire dragon. He was expected to have two siblings, but that wasn't quite the way things worked out when he was born. For he was the only one that ever hatched.
His parents were extremely distressed when the other two eggs refused to hatch, two, three, then four days after Deiga hatched. Eventually, the father broke into one of them, and the stench alone could tell that if anything alive had been in there, it was long dead. The parents wept bitter tears.
After a week or so of absolute depression, they decided that they were going to treasure their remaining son. They were getting old and this was most likely to be their last nest. So, with a nod sealing the deal, they turned their attention to their newest addition to the family.
Deiga's family was one of the less wealthy of his clan. His parents did not have an excessive amount of coins, but they were not poor, either. Instead of spoiling their son with gifts, they lavished him with their time. Deiga's mother taught him how to sew and mend, and his father taught him how to fight and hold his ground.
In fact, on a day when Deiga's father thought he would teach him how to patrol, Deiga met Yume. He was a small Spiral, weary from all the traveling he had done. Deiga's boredom turned into excitement and he begged his father to let him take the Spiral home as a hostage. His father laughed, and told him that they would bring him to the clan, not as a hostage but as a friend.
They took the dragon, Yume, in. He was a small, quiet dragon; ice to Deiga's fire. He didn't make a big splash in the household since he was so quiet and polite. But, Deiga's parents now had two fine children. Deiga and Yume did not look at each other in a brotherly way, not at all. Deiga had a fiery love for the tiny Yume, and a protectiveness that he could not squash. Yume quietly admired Deiga's passion and his ease when around other dragons.
In Deiga's clan, when a hatchling was just beginning to form into an adult, he or she would take a test to see where they would be best suited in life: outside of the clan or within. The results came back, and Deiga opened them, biting his lip. The council had decided that he was to travel to find a new clan, saying that his fiery attitude, steadfastness, and wonder of the world attributed to this decision. When Yume returned with his results, Deiga was surprised and delighted to discover that they received the same outcome.
Deiga’s parents were absolutely thrilled that the two of them received the same results. Many parties ensued, and most of the family’s wealth was spent on them. After a few days of this, their parents gave them little sacks of coins and they set off into the world.
Deiga only wanted to travel for the longest time. His heart was set on seeing the whole world, and seeing it fast. He and Yume spent the first couple years of their life alone on the move, never staying in one area for more than a month.
Gradually, Deiga grew weary of this life style. It was hard to continue it, and the stress of moving eventually got to him. His heart had settled, so when Yume suggested that they settle somewhere, he wasn’t hard to convince.
So, they stopped in the nearest clan to plot for awhile. However, they stayed longer than they had expected and slowly the Light Clan of Chronomaly became their home.

Personality:
Deiga is an extremely excitable dragon. The very air around him seems to vibrate with energy and he has an infectiously peppy attitude. He always sees the bright side of things, choosing to smile instead of frown and laugh instead of crying.
He is truly settled in Chronomaly now. He races often and trains with Yume, the softly-spoken Spiral always urging him on. Dragons were impressed when in his very first race, he came in second place.
He is always a little worried what others will think of him. He is scared to step out into the open in fear of ridicule, since he has never quite felt it before. He wonders how painful it would be to have a stranger laugh at him or have a friend look upon him with scorn.
So Yume, quiet, socially-awkward Yume, gets him to try a little harder each time he goes out to compete. Deiga works with him almost every day on his racing technique, and now dragons from all over are starting to recognize him as the prodigy of racing.
Deiga always seems to be laughing, so not many dragons take him seriously. They think he doesn’t have a care in the world, not a worry, not a doubt. He doesn’t correct them, just lets them believe what they want to. After all, he doesn’t want them to know what it’s in his head, right?
He loves watching the sun go down every night. Another triumph across the sky for the globe of light, he’ll think as he watches it go down. He wonders what the sun is like. He wonders how its rays warm his scales and light his surrounding. He wonders about life, but then pauses. He shakes off the thoughts, content to sit in the silence of dusk with peaceful thoughts.
Deiga always seems to be having the time of his life, every hour of every Sornieth day. He twirls and turns and dives as any spiral is expected to, covering air as fast as a sprinting mirror can cover land. Deiga is always at the front lines at the clan's regular competitions, cheering on the participators and using his fire magic to create displays in the sky. Though he is incredibly supportive of the competitors he seems to get irrationally angry when one makes a silly mistake, such as taking off before allowed or getting stuck in a loop. When his best friend Yume suggested he participated himself he just stuttered and looked away. This concerned his friend, and so they sat down to talk. Of course 'sitting down' for a spiral is more just flopping down to the ground. Deiga shyly admitted he wouldn't enter because he didn't want to lose. If you didn't win, then what's the point? People would boo and jeer at him if he did anything less than perfect. Yume assured Deiga that that would never happen and they began to train. After weeks upon weeks the first game was upon them. Deiga played and played, putting every ounce of effort into the competition. After what felt like days of playing Deiga came in... second. He coward and shook, awaiting the torment, the anticipation hurting as much as the scolding certainly would be. But he only heard cheers. 'Good job's and 'I didn't know you were any good!'s the only thing coming to his ears. He peeked through his claws only to see Yume's smiling face. 'I told you so!'
