Professor Verde is the ship's psychologist, or 'head doctor' as the rest of the crew like to call him. An unlikely crew member, he believes that everything can be solved with a hug. Being resisted by the crew for a long time, he is a tolerated rather than needed crew member. Though secretly he has many crew members sneak down to his office - which is really no more than a broom closet - to unburden themselves when it comes to matters of the heart. He is a likeable character with an infectious smile and and a healthy dose of optimism. And as unlikely pirate as he is - his natural charm and energy seem to affect the ship in a positive way: bringing a balance that has help resolve many crew member's conflicts. But if asked, said crew members would probably deny it vehemently.

Although, against Captain Crusty's better judgement he allowed Professor Verde to board the ship. The Cap'ain is now beginning to appreciate the Professor's sound advice when dealing with 'emotions'. Just as his name implies the Cap'ain has a rather gnarly exterior, but really he's a big softy at heart. He's beginning to see his decision as a wise investment in the crew's health. Not a day goes by without a crew member at the end of someone's cutlass. But somehow the Professor manages to diffuse many explosive situations. As far as the Cap'ain's concerned it's all a bit of a mystery, but he's secretly glad to have Verde aboard!
