Awakened Familiars:
Pine can remember her time spent in the tattered Wasteland. The things that she witnessed with her band of Wildclaw Scavengers still haunts her to this day. Although she is now happy in The SpiralScale Clan Pine cannot lose the memories. Locked deep inside her, a shadow in everyday life. Although she has become a master at hiding her true feelings, the Wildclaw was badly damaged by these events.....

In a second she is back in The Wasteland, the sun scalding her feathers, causing her claws to ache as she races along the hard packed earth. She is part of a sharp, arrow shape in her group, leaping over carcasses of dragons long dead, unrecognisable after They have eaten their fill. She lives in constant fear of Them.

The BeastClan Insanes.

The screeching and screaming is a constant tune to her ears, driving her onwards, causing her to keep moving. The leader of the small band is the fastest, strongest, most sure footed of them all. Pine wishes she was up there, closer to the front. Braver. She wishes that she could be in control, could run faster, lead the others with certainty and reliability. She gulps as teeth gnash behind her, some poor Wasteland creature meeting it's end. The leader barks an order, shifting the formation to a tighter shape in the blink of an eye. Pine feels the scaulding earth beneath her Talons, feels the bite of broken teeth and claws beneath her. She longs to stop running, to face her pursuers and end their mad race for survival. But she can't, she won't stop, she does not wish to die.

It was years until, finally, the chase stopped. Pine was left, only her,her mate and a female named SkyHawk still alive, still running together, as a team. Her other 'friends' had either been taken in the Night or ran. By themselves, into the endless desert of waste. She stops suddenly, feeling soft, green grass beneath her Talons, unable to comprehend it, unable to understand. All this running, and finally, she has made it, she survived.

The dreams are always the same, a rush of fear, determination, horror and relief. With each one ending in a slightly different way. Sometimes with the death of her, sometimes with the reality, safety with her new clan. But through it all, when she wakes up in the middle of the night in a flurry of fear, her mate is there for her, sound asleep, curled around her. Providing the warmth, calm and peace that her childhood lacked.
