Most dragons tend to steer clear from the Witherwood Forest. The densely growing trees make impossible to traverse through by flying, forcing you to make it in the perpetual gloom by foot. There are stories of strange things happening the deeper one gets. They tell of ghostly wolves accompanied by a purple mist and chilling whispers out of nowhere. You will be lost forever, the unknowing travelers are warned, the forest is cursed and only a fool sets foot in it.

Some claim it's the hermit witch seemingly living in the forest who cursed it. Or that there is no curse at all, but she is behind the disappearings. But those are just whispers, since no one really seems to know this mysterious witch.

Nightshade glides through the forest, her wings passing through the trees like they aren't there at all. A shadowy lupine is keeping pace with her, leaving wisps of purple smoke in their wake. Nightingales are singing their alluring tune somewhere above as the last few rays of daylight make it through the dense foliage. The imperial spreads her wings and lands onto a field of blue and lilac flowers, right before a large willow tree that she has made her home around.

She enjoys her solitude. Everything she needs is right here, all around her. Unique flowers that only grow here, mushrooms that most dragons have never even heard of, all the perfect ingredients for her craft. The forest feels more like home than anything else ever has.

It's easy to get lost in the forest. Nightshade's spectral familiars are always stalking the area, working as her eyes and ears. Instead of hunting them down like the stories tell, the wolves only guide the lost wanderers back to safety.
