Varei spends many of his days in wait, merely biding his time until he receives one of his visions. During this time he'll wander, not knowing what will trigger the onset of images in his mind, only hoping to see a future that holds joy instead of ruin, peace instead of war. A part of him is proud of his unique ability, while another part laments the lack of clarity of the visions. In his own words, how can he explain what he himself doesn't fully understand? Varei fears what he might see, and hopes that it does not involve the clan if a vision shows bad omens. So, he travels all over, which is what he enjoys -seeing the world has always made him feel better- and since traveling has the added purpose of triggering visions of the futures of places other than his homeland. Much of his traveling takes place in deep oceans, thick forests, high mountains- anywhere in solitude, because other dragons love to ask him to tell their futures. Don't they understand how it works? he asks himself. I can't just pull a vision out of thin air; I need to see an object or dragon that is present in the future for it to work! And even then, nothing's guaranteed, so no! I can't give you the answers you're looking for! In cases such as that, the normally level-headed, unflappable Varei might just snap, yelling at the offending dragon and demonstrating very un-seerlike behavior. Thankfully, most of the dragons of the Schism know better than to ask what his vision contained before he tells them himself, and have yet to see that side of his nature. Varei hopes to keep it that way.
The one dragon in the clan that Varei trusts to help him sort through the jumbled images of the future he can see is Heldeep, who puts his telepathic powers to use by assisting Varei in interpreting his visions. The Pearlcatcher knows firsthand how difficult a unique ability can be to manage, and knows when Varei will be willing to talk and when it would be better to take him somewhere to clear his head. After all, there's someone out there who could use a good pranking, which the duo are happy to assist with, and humor always helps to calm a situation down.

Lore Facts: Varei's familiar, an Amber Gulper named Devourer, once escaped from his underground home and terrorized a neighboring Harpy clan- just before the Breakers formed an alliance with them. Since Devourer had nearly eaten the Harpies' leader, the alliance never went through, and the Schism still lacks an agreement with any Harpy clan.

Varei dislikes Ithergeffen because the Coatl came from the future but cannot remember (or is not willing to share) a way back. In the Wildclaw's mind, if he saw the future for himself it would trigger many visions, which he could then understand and know the results, rather than guessing and being afraid as he is currently.
