Biography

Water Priest
Charge: None

Born first day of Wavecrest Saturnalia '16 in KenyonV Clan (#234544); joined Clan Diamond Dust 4/24/16

- Breed changed to Guardian from Snapper 5/5/16
- Sapphire Flourish Bracelets gift from Cloudsong Celebration, eeeeel's Clan #82352

Mate = 12650878p.png

Name meaning: Celtic - From the stony river/English - Cold brook/Scottish - Rough waters

The flight ambassadors (priestesses) of the clan were responsible for advising clan leaders on issues related to her homeland and greeting visitors from clans living there. The role of the priest was not to be a liaison to visitors and other clans. Instead, the priest would serve as a representative for the permanent clan members, bringing their issues to clan leadership and ensuring that their needs were met. Now that the clan was so large, this function was thought to be necessary to make sure no issues slipped through the cracks.

Permanent Water Clan Members: 13 (As of 5/20/17)

Water dragons were some of the most numerous in the clan. It made sense in a roundabout way; afterall, ice was just frozen water. Still, there were plenty of challenges accomodating dragons used to water that wasn't solid. With some work, the clan was able to maintain a heating system for a set of pools to house water-based familiars. There were also pools big enough for dragons to take a dip, although they had to make their dens on solid ground with the rest of the clan.

~

Home clan called him Sparkling. Choose to take name of Calder upon joining Clan Diamond Dust. First born of his parents.

Clan leaders made it very clear to Calder that his acceptance as the clan priest depended on breed changing from a Snapper to a Guardian. Sometimes they didn't follow through with their plans - or the dragons joining the clan changed their plans later - but this time, they absolutely wanted a representative of the flight's breed as a priest. Calder thought it was a fair trade - a place to live and a job - so he acquiesed to their request.

Upon joining the clan, he met Kaia, the Water Priestess. She was fluid, beautiful, easy going and an oracle - the perfect embodiment of a Water dragon. Of course, he fell for her. For her part, she knew that the clan leaders had originally intended that the priests and priestesses be mates - although that didn't last long - but didn't really feel any pressure or initial interest in being romantically involved with Calder. However, since Kaia had started the water-based infrastructure of the clan, she ended up working closely with Calder on maintenance and issues brought up by the clan's Water dragons. During their time together, she found that he was a solid, steady companion - he didn't rush to judgment but really put thought and effort into problem-solving and took her concerns and ideas seriously. Although Calder was one of the busier priests, he made sure to let her know that she was a priority for him. As they got to know each other, Kaia slowly fell for him too and eventually they moved into a shared lair.

Unlike most adult Guardians, Calder didn't have a Charge and wasn't actively seeking one. The lack of a Charge was a little perplexing and worrying to clan leaders. They assumed it would have been related to his priesthood duties over the clan, but that wasn't to be. It also wasn't his mate... or a familiar... or anything. There was some concern among clan leadership that when Calder did find his Charge, it would take him away from his water-related duties. However, there was also talk that he might not have a Charge at all. He wasn't born a Guardian and wasn't breed-changed until adulthood. Might it have interfered with his species' innate need to find a Charge? In any case, they watched him closely as he went about his duties, to make sure he didn't up and leave one day.

For his part, Calder wasn't too worried about it. He didn't feel anything missing and wasn't driven to go off somewhere, so he too thought something must have "gone wrong" during the breed change. Not that he missed it. In fact, he was rather relieved to find that the craziness affecting his breed didn't seem to bother him.
