Crimsonwing
Assistant of the Archiver
Hunter/Fisher/Gatherer/Bug-catcher/Digger/Scavenger
"It is well for the heart to be naive and the mind not to be." -Anatole France

Born in a clan too lux for their own good, Crimsonwing never learned anything of value in her early ages. She later went off to train herself, and found a mentor. This mentor taught her how to hunt, but an accident happens that leaves her on her own forces her to find another mentor who was Obsidianwing.

When I was just a young drake, I was part of a family that got rich off selling their metalforging goods off. Really, I didn't learn how to do any part of the craft until I was two whole cycles old. It wasn't too exciting- sitting by the stall watching my parents and their buds make swords and armor doing nothing. Even when I did finally learn how to forge I was always a flop, bending the hot metal sticks into deformed flat abominations with handles. Really I was more interested in the woodcarving technique that let me carve wood instead, but most planks would burn up by the fires of the Waste.
What really caught my eye was what I saw one day when out looking for iron ores for my pa. Some dragon clans over yonder were fighting each other, and I had gotten the urge to get in on the fun. So I gathered a few more ores and headed pack to my pa. I asked him about if I could possibly get into the fighting sport, but he responded with a laugh. "Ya ain't wanna git int' dir'y bus'ness 'ike fightin'. Git int' smithin'. 'T's civ'lized 'nd g'ves ya dosh." I only strutted of to ask my ma the same, but she only said, "Hun, what if you git hurt? We don't want that fer you. Go practice yer smithing." My siblings only said the same thing, that I should just knock it off.
Eventually I just got sick of their banter and disappeared on my own over to the Expanse. I asked around the area about anydrake that would teach me how to fight. Nodrake seemed interested, until I came across a nomad parked in a cave. "Yeah, I know someone. He used to go by Raggle, though nowadays he goes by a different name. Former assassin, may be willing to train you. He can be real scary when he wants to be, believe me. You can find him up in the northern parts of the Canyon." Afterwards he disappeared into the shadows of the cave, and I never saw him again.
A long trek up the canyon later I spotted a painted wooden door at the base of the walls, nearly invisible to those who didn't look for it. I made a slow trot down, then waled within a few meters of the door. It peeked open without my having to knock, and an obsidian mirror with white eyes peered out. "Whaddyouwa?"
"Hey! I'm Crimsonwing, an' I'm lookin' fer a drake by th' name o' Raggle?"
"Windswept, Ashfall, or Sunbeam?"
"Uhm, Ashfall?"
He left the door open, and indicator that I should come inside. It was dimly lit by flickering lightbulbs, the rooms seemingly tunneled roughly by Ridgebacks then perfected by Tundras. He gestured to a seat at a round table and I gladly took it. "By the way, the name isn't Raggle anymore. It's Gwenfron. Why were you looking for me?"
"Well, I's kinda int'rested 'n becomin' a warrior 'r sum kinda fighter."
Gwenfron only smiled and widened her eyes in amusement. "Who were your parents?"
"They's smiths who run sum nice bus'ness."
"You have any older siblings?"
"Too many t' count."
"What color was the rock wall outside?"
"Smoke."
"And the squirrel?"
"'Ere was no squ'rrel."
"Now tell me-- how do you know the answers to the last two? You seemed like you knew it all off the top of your head." This made me pause, knowing that I was never actually paying attention to much when I had dropped down to the door. After a short silence, Gwenfron chuckled. "Instinct is what we call it, mate. Instinct drives the hunter to get to their prey. I'll train you."
So for many, many moons, I trained how to use knives and claw to claw combat. Eventually, it came time that I went on small adventures with my mentor.
