Taborlin the Great is a character from the "Kingkiller Chronicles" by Patrick Rothfuss. The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear are book 1 & 2 of the series. Book 3 has not yet been finished.

What Taborlin the Great looks like is uncertain. He is a person of legend whose adventures and heroics are favorite childhood tales. In paintings and drawings of the time, he is often surrounded by specific items each one thought to give him a special ability.

Legend has it that Taborlin the Great managed to escape capture by the Chandrian and the Sorcerer King, Syphus. The story goes that he was locked in a high tower without his magical possessions that would have aided him, but yet he managed to escape. Calling upon the name of stone to shatter the walls of the tower and then called the name of the wind to ease him to the ground without injury.

Taborlin the Great is a hero to Kvothe and his stories help shape many of Kvothe's decisions. Every town he visited Kvothe would listen to see if he could catch any stories about his hero that he may not have heard. Kvothe strives to be as Great at Taborlin seeking out as much knowledge that he can and helping those in need.
