To most dragons of the Silva Dracones clan, Umbriel will only ever be a legend, told to them when they were hatchlings. Hers is a dark, lonely tale, only told on eclipses. The story goes like this: A beautiful dragon from the Sunbeam Ruins became curious about the magicks that were used across their borders, in the Tangled Woods. Her clan lived on the border, and at night, the lovely dragon whose colors embodied the Lightweaver's realm, would always become entranced with the softly glowing lights and strange noises that came from the Woods. One day, she gave into the tempations, and left her clan for the darkness. She wandered for many days, following will-o-wisps and lightning bugs, until she grew tired and thirsty. At that moment, she found a stream and drank deeply from it. But, as she consumed the food and drink of the deep Woods, her Light magic was stained with the Dark magicks of the realm. As she spent more and more time in the Shadowbinder's territory, she scales slowly became darker and darker, until nothing was left of her former colors except her pale yellow eyes and sunrise-colored stomach. Her scales still shone though, using every bit of light that filtered through the dense trees to sparkle and shine, for her body would not so easily give up the light. Her only companion throughout this entire time and consequent change was a Abyss Striker she had befriended at that first fateful stream.

Umbriel's tale is told to keep hatchlings from wandering too far from their parents and clan, though a few dragons swear that on a clear night of the new moon, they have seen pale yellow eyes watching them from the shadows and a glint of a dark scale here or there.
