Quite aware of his ridiculous getup, Moonpool is expectedly skittish. But when one is disguised royalty with only a somewhat scornful (? he can't quite tell but best to assume the worst--) nature spirit as a bodyguard and only the word of said spirit to keep his secret to rely on, how can he not be jumpy? Riverwind seems kind enough, but Moonpool tries to stay away from the clan leader, blending into the casual hubbub of this clan's life, bidding his time by recollecting what he could easily do without having:

He'd very much like to do without Feriona's silent disapproval, and Mars' unrelenting criticism of his attire. Okay, okay, so the silk might rip and tear if he were to actually fight, but that's why Feriona is here right? so that doesn't have to happen.. ever... right?

He could also do without the 'training' that Feriona puts him through... its fine... he enjoys learning the motions of fighting but the power just isn't there for him. Mars never fails to remind Moonpool of how much he's lacking in skill, whenever and wherever he can.

Another thing he could do without is.. the amity of this clan... Auora is aggressively friendly, and Eria seemed stern at first but is almost a good a teacher as Feriona. Stonemist is different though, he could do without his ridged schedules for 'organization' (Moonpool doubts anything he'd say would even be taken into consideration, the stiff), and Octavia was just overbearingly sweet. She did nothing overbearing herself, mind you, but how can one be so kind??? It baffles him and how comfortable he is around these dragons scares him. It's dangerous... Moonpool knows this... They could Figure It Out. (Moonpool doesn't mention Arashi... no one does... or well, no one seems to mention him(?) in a way it would count... he(?) unsettles you.)

He could also do without seeing some strange phantom out of the corner of his eye all of the time. the jingling, breezy lantern is playing tricks on him, he swears. It won't stop smiling. Why won't it stop smiling.

One thing, he definitely couldn't do without though, is Lyra. Moonpool doesn't know what he'd do without her. She's the one dragon who doesn't mind any of his defiently not paranoid ramblings (no matter what Auroa tries to say! She even has the gall to laugh!), and actually listens instead of tuning him out (he thinks this is what Feriona does? He can never really tell with her, she never stops him nor does she interrupt). He's even considered telling her It. But only one other dragon than himself here knows It, and while Moonpool would trust her with It without a second thought, fear for involving Lyra with his whole mess... she... Lyra doesn't deserve that. (If anything, Lyra deserves a ring made up of delicate, tangible light.)
