Nobody set out from the lair of the Pineapple clan the next day. As he wandered beyond the Hewn City and ventured into the lands beyond he saw the distance the Beacon of the Radiant Eye loom and over head a large flight of dragons passed overhead. There were dozens of them, of all shapes and sizes. Some shone brightly while others were dark blots against the sky. One of the darkest dragons, an enormous female Guardian, took notice of his watch and made a wide spiraling descent to his watch-perch. "Greetings tundra. You appear lost, do you require aid?" She rumbled. "No, thank you. I am Nobody, I just left the Hewn City in search of a new clan." Nobody shifted uncomfortably under her gaze. Her scales were almost darker than his own though they were patterned in elegant strokes and dots of deep colors. "What is your name?" "Forgive my manners, I am Ishanti. I have heard of you, Nobody." She chuckled and looked up to the flight of dragons which now circled overhead. One small shape broke apart from the rest and began to descend."Gave plenty of pearlcatchers quite a fright." "Indeed he did!" A bright voice chirped. A silver pearlcatcher landed at Ishanti's feet and studied Nobody carefully. "You!" Nobody started, this silvery pearlcatcher had been one of the dragons he had 'borrowed' a pearl from! He immediately dropped his head down. “I want to apologize, when I took your pearl I did not understand how dearly you catchers keep them. I only wanted to learn who I was.” The pearlcatcher eyed him warily for a moment and sighed. “I cannot blame you and I do not bear any grudge against you. My name is Mithril, my mate and our offspring are of this clan. I am very sorry you have forgotten who you were...” Mithril rolled her pearl over some soft moss. “Did you ever learn anything?” “Only that I chose to lose my memories and I was told if I remembered I would [/indent] only choose to lose them again.” Nobody shifted unhappily. “I am not satisfied with it but there is little I can do. If I cannot remember who I was or what my role was then I have decided to search one out for myself.” Mithril and Ishanti looked to one another and reached some silent agreement. Ishanti looked up to the lazy circling of the flight of dragons. "This is Clan Lacrima and I am its founder. We travel to the Beakon of the Radiant Eye. We have recently been granted greater lairspace and travel to our new home. If you wish, you may travel with us." Nobody regarded the flight above and slowly nodded. “It... might be nice to fly with such a large clan... yes. I will travel with you.” The two dragonesses lifted from the ground and rejoined the flight. With one last look behind him to the Hewn City, Nobody flew to join the clan. He soared over them to settle into a place near Ishanti and again admired the sheer diversity of the clan. Guardians, Imperials, Skydancers, Tundra, a few Fae and even a Coatl formed its heart. Little swarms of hatchlings darted along the air currents generated by the elder members with glee. It was observing the young ones Nobody's attention was drawn to one Skydancer in particular. He was dark colored with a long red gash contouring his form. About him a Sober spirit drifted, glued to the stoic dragon. When the clan reached the new lair, a large spacious area with plenty of room for expansions, the hooded dragon immeadiatly retreated into a darkened cave to set about preparing his den. “That is Styx.” Ishanti rumbled. “A counselor of sorts, he guides dragons to discover their places in the world. If you wish, I can introduce you, he could be of assistance to you.” |
