The startlingly ferocious mate of Haven. She always knew she was destined for him. He took some convincing.


Deep in the sunbeam ruins was an odd egg. The others in the nest moved restlessly, fighting to break free. But this egg waited. While the sun shone, and its siblings poured out into the light, it sat patiently. Somewhere in the Shifting expanse, a storm broke into cacophonous applause. And a crack appeared in the egg's shell. As the faint sounds of thunder faded in the far off distance, a dark little dragon crawled out and away determinedly.

It grew as it journeyed, but was still quite small when it finally reached a particular spot in the electric desert. Once again, it sat, and waited. Time passed, and it amused itself by gazing at the roiling clouds and imagining vast beasts wracked in combat.

"Good day." A dry voice spoke behind it. A tall, austere skydancer stalked into view. It raised a single brow. "I am Haven, former ambassador of the Darkhaven Clan, now of the Windblown. What brings you to our territory little one?"

The hatchling raised golden eyes to meet his. A small voice piped with calm and confidence. "I am Ildiko and you are mine."

Haven reared back slightly. "I beg your pardon?"

Ildiko gave him a peaceful stare. "You are mine. And I am yours. You'll get used to it in time."

While the normally composed skydancer sputtered, Ildiko wandered off to meet the rest of her clan.
