Arie was a once pure, beautiful Head Priestess of the Windsinger, and is now a dark necromancer with a tainted heart. No one is sure how this happened, but some believe she was coaxed by a Nochnyr, the one she keeps as her beloved beast companion, that of which she so lovingly named "Sephtis". They say his undead appearance of his skull, haphazardly sewn and pale dead skin, and his strange bone legs. They say this was what inspired Arie to delve into magic involving the dead and dying, as well as a variety of dark subject matters.

Her new practices came as a total shock to the rest of the Preachers, who banished her from the grounds in which they dedicate worship to the Windsinger. She fled with Sephtis to the Foxfire Bramble, where she could perform her truly dark experiments in the secrecy of shadows.

She can be very condescending, and only briefly gets along with Mina when she needs something for her experiments.
