Thoth the Ancient Sage A single footstep will not make a path on the earth, To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. Thoth was born constantly seeking out knowledge and wanting to assist others. She travelled the entirety of Sornieth learning from all things, Dragons, Shade and Beastclan. As she travelled she assisted as many as she could who needed her help. Homesickness had her heading back to Dragonhome to share her knowledge with the clan she had left. She was doomed to disappointment as her original clan had changed leadership and taken a turn for the worse. While she tried for some time to stay and lend her knowledge in the hopes that she could lead them back to a period of enlightenment. Unfortunately in the end she failed at her goal. Her clan aggressively attempted to force her to spill secrets that they could use against their enemies both in and outside of their clans. The longer she resisted this the more they pressed. First they tried manipulation and when she proved resistant to that, they resorted to threats and violent attacks. Heartbroken she fled her clan and wandered for a time without the same joy she had traveled with before. She stayed away from crowds and lived in reclusion for several years until she crossed into the Viridian Labyrinth. She found some semblance of peace while traveling through the Nature lands and while the clans there were wary of a stranger they slowly warmed up to her. At some point she crossed paths with the reclusive Uṭhati and their Sage Iphigenia who greeted her as if she had known Thoth all her life. For the next century she studied with the Priestess who taught her how to safely gather and share information in the service of the Earthshaker. She also learned more about her heritage and how one of her near ancestors was one of the first dragons made by the Earthshaker upon the shattering of the Pillar. Upon completing her training as one of the Knowledge Seekers for the Earthshaker, she left Iphigenia to resume contact with the outside world. She vowed to return someday so she could join the group that Iphigenia had hinted could teach her more about the world than she could ever imagine. She enthusiastically rejoined society and the few who knew her from before she had disappeared from the world marveled at her lack of aging, and the wealth of knowledge in her eyes. Her voice captured those she talked with and some said that she seemed to see beyond the physical plane. When she laid eyes on her dragon companions, many seemed compelled to tell her the truth she needed to know. Soon after Thoth came upon Madina, a fairly new clan city that had no previous knowledge of her where she decided to settle down. She lived on the edge of the cities in a rather humble home that she decorated with trinkets from her past travels. Her advice treasured it was little surprise to to most that a community formed around her. They lived a simple life working to supply themselves mostly with what they could make or grow and many from outside the community would walk there to clear their minds before seeking Thoth’s advice. As happy as she was with the Medina, Thoth developed a longing to reacquate herself with Iphigenia. She selected her most dedicated students and turned the leadership of the community over to them before she went on a mission to find her old teacher. Upon her return to the Labyrinth she found that Iphigenia’s group had moved on and spent several years searching before she stumbled across a young dragoness who dragged her back to a well hidden compound before revealing that she was Iphigenia. Laughing at the shock on the skydancer face, Iphi explained that she had a habit of cycling through different age ranges and she was currently in a youthful mind set. After she got over her surprise, she and Iphigenia caught up and after explaining her desire to learn more and join the mysterious Order Iphigenia was delighted. It didn’t take long to plead her case to the current leader of the Order and without much trouble she was initiated to the Santulana Order. She stayed with the Uṭhati for several more years before she moved on to the Chaomhnú to continue her Knowledge Seeking in the lands of the Icewarden. She has even found a way to bring the lushness of the Labyrinth in her and her small home is surrounded by an abundance of green that persists in spite of the snow. It is not uncommon for the members of Chaomhnu sector and Sanctuary to seek her advice and bring new information to her as well. |
