Biography
Occupation: Second-in-command to Clan Leader
Clan Status: High
Mate: None
Unlike Jae, Meelo was abandoned as a hatchling with his sister, Sayla, after their mother, the pack leader, was murdered by a challenger. The new dominant female sought to kill all of the past leader's offspring in an attempt to guarantee her right to lead. Meelo's father hid him and his sister in the Everbloom Gardens, hoping that another pack would adopt them. Unfortunately, they were rejected yet again and forced to fend for themselves in the Wilds. Sayla and Meelo were inseparable as hatchlings and stayed together for most of their lives. They were viewed as outcasts by most of the Mirror dragons, who were disgusted with how close the siblings became. Determined to tear the two apart and force them to conform to the pack-mindset of most of their species, several Mirror packs ambushed the siblings, killed Sayla, and left Meelo with horrible scars across his ribs and wings. Meelo fled from the rest of his species, swearing to never become like them. Only a few weeks later, he met Jae, a female Guardian, who accepted him as a lone Mirror and began her clan with him.
When Qualei and Kejaro came to Jae's clan seeking shelter and help, Meelo convinced his friend to let them stay. He couldn't bear the thought of abandoning dragons like he and his sister had been. Meelo did his best to heal Kejaro and, with the help of Qualei's abundant magic, the Guardian made a full recovery. When Jae tried to force Qualei to leave, Meelo stood up for her and, trusting his instincts, Jae allowed her to stay. While Jae remained the dominant dragon, the four of them became close friends. Meelo was assigned the task of being Jae's second-in-command, and he did his best to help her lead the clan down the safest path. Later, in return for Meelo's assistance, Kejaro crafted him a simple skin to hide his scars.
Out on a scouting mission with Jae, Meelo discovered the lone egg that would hatch into Remara, a young Mirror that he and Jae treated as a daughter. Though they were never mates, Jae and Meelo had had a clutch of three eggs, quickly given to Gladekeeper in exchange for her blessing on their clan. The loss of his eggs had hurt Meelo more than he showed and he was overjoyed at the chance to raise a hatchling like his own. Remara became an excellent fighter and though Jae prompted her to grow to be a protector of the clan, Meelo encouraged her to be kind and patient, a trait that later saved her life.
Meelo went on to become the heart of clan and represented the best of his species. Though he had no other hatchlings, Meelo did his best to guide the younger dragons of his clan away from the violence and anger that he had grown up with.
