Once a member of the clan military, Mythic has resigned himself to more peaceful things after an accident left him blind and incapable of fight - which is fine with him, because flying takes too much energy anyway. He is still able to sense light and darkness, and with a bit of magic he can see images in his mind, so being incapacitated is really just an excuse for him to lay around and eat without doing any actual work. His loss of sight and flight has increased his sensitivity, allowing him to sense the ongoings of the clan, though not accurately. This enhanced ability helps in his hobby of fishing, as it allows him to accurately pinpoint the locations of fish in the water. This would be a great skill to show off if he wasn't stuck in the middle of the Runic Mountain Range, where the ocean is a bit too far and lakes and ponds are somewhat scarce. Thus, he's resigned himself to practicing his skills on Adders's fish tanks and ponds. The familiar keeper would probably be mortified by this notion if he knew what was happening. Of course, life isn't all that good. Mythic still has trouble navigating the lair, and even with his magical talents he has yet to find a perfect solution. The best thing he can conjure up as of now is a form of magical echolocation - bouncing magic off the walls and determining the locations of things based on how long it takes for the rebound to come back. His clanmates like to think of it as "bumping into walls until you either find your way or perish in the attempt." Mythic's role in the clan has decreased after his accident, but being a former member of the Scales, he still has good connections with the clan's military. He often helps Veles with his fear of water or practices against Netjeri during mock battles. (She always goes easy on him.) He also runs errands for Ma'at occasionally, and it seems that there are a lot of things she'd prefer him to do, even if other dragons can do it just as well. This might just be Ma'at's usual "if you don't do anything I'm kicking you out" gig, or it might be because Ma'at likes him and doesn't want him to stray too far from the Scales. Mythic is completely oblivious to this fact, and is eternally overjoyed by the fact that someone still needs him to run military ops. |

Mythic also helps Valenya with her research, though most of the time this just involves spying on Muffin and Vanya and stopping them from ending existence as we know it. Being one of the best spellcasters in the clan, Mythic does know a lot about magic, and can usually be trusted to have the right answers or ideas for a research problem. Of course, he also messes up fairly often. Valenya never asked for a Wartoad to be summoned in the kitchen, or that horde of Buttersnakes to come invading, or for Muffin to turn into a golden statue for a week. Well, maybe not the statue part. It was a new and enlightening experience to not have the lair blow up every other second. She might ask him to do it again. For science. When he's not researching or running errands, Mythic generally sticks around Viper. Having joined the clan at around the same times, they're best friends and rumoured to be almost like siblings. Mythic helps Viper with breeding and taking care of her snakes. The fact that he can't see the snakes is a bonus, as it means he can't see Viper's plans for world domination. (He totally knows.) The two can often be found in the library, badgering Valenya for books on snakes. Valenya claims that it's annoying to have a blind dragon come into her jurisdiction, as it means she has to find ways for him to read the material, but in reality, she's having an awful lot of fun creating Braille paperback for the blind Nocturne. Mythic is also a good friend of Venti, having been the one who helped the wind mage assimilate into the clan. Though their relationship has become more awkward after Mythic's accident, the Nocturne and can still be found joining the Skydancer on his daily flights. Of course, Mythic can't fly, so more often than not he can be found snuggled in Venti's feathers, enjoying the breeze. Venti appreciates those get-togethers more than he'll admit, and has taken to watching over Mythic like a parent. Another one of Mythic's companions is his corn snake, which he carries around with him at all times. Her name is Lotus and she can usually be found hiding under some part of that ridiculous outfit he wears. Lotus aids Mythic in his daily routine by frantically hissing whenever he nears danger. Of course, since this an Arcane lair, and danger is never more than nine inches away, she spends most of her time sounding like a leaking gas canister. Many speculations have been made about Mythic's accident, though the Nocturne is so easygoing he probably doesn't really care. After all, new disabilities, though uncomfortable, are just new experiences to him, and as long as he has his magic, he doesn't mind losing his sight and flight abilities. But to the rest of the clan, they've lost a valuable spellcaster and member of the military. Without Mythic's magical abilities, the clan defences have gone into the care of Pachetonas, and nobody want Pachetonas to take care of anything, not even her herself. Ma'at and Venti are especially enraged, and those two are never on the same page of any story. Or in the same library at all. However, for the first time, we're seeing them work together to uncover this mystery... That sort of cooperation might actually end the world. |

Mythic went fishing and got a Wartoad. Whoo!
Mythic went fishing and got a Wartoad. Whoo!
He'd forgotten something.
Mythic knew that, the instant he was awake. It'd been five days since Netjeri and Veles had found him nearly blown apart in a shallow crater. He'd been rushed to the infirmary, and Nephthys and Pachetonas had put him back together. He'd lost his sight and flight, but that was fine. He still had his magic, and as long as he had that, everything was fine.
But he'd forgotten something.
They told him he must've been caught in some kind of explosion on his way back from his daily routine. He was lucky to make a point of doing the same thing every night - every dragon in the lair knew where he was at that time. When he hadn't reported back at the usual hour, Ma'at had sent Netjeri and Veles after him. He would heal, they said. Albeit slowly.
But that didn't matter. What mattered was what he couldn't remember. He had found out something, he knew. He had discovered something important. There was something wrong, there was something off, in the maze, there was a dragon that -
He couldn't remember.
A ribbon. That was it. Purple and blue, floating in the darkness, but wait, no, that wasn't it, there hadn't been anything in the darkness. There was the forest, its sparkly blue and purple leaves, that was what he'd mistaken for something else, yet -
He. Could not. Remember.
Mythic squeezed his eyes shut, shaking away the cobwebs of sound. Nephthys had told him he would be confused for a while, the mental trauma and concession doing their best to mess up his mind. That had to be it. His memory was usually impeccable, and if it was important, he would've remembered it, wouldn't he? That was it. There wasn't anything he couldn't remember, he was just being paranoid.
Everything was fine.
He had to believe it was.
