Pele
Fire Clan Ambassador Some of the most fertile lands were created by the fires of a volcano.
Origins – A young pair of dragons were fleeing the lands their family had lived in for generations. The lands had been too poor to sustain too many dragons and the weak were chased off by the larger and stronger dragons. Unfortunately for this family they did not get to choose the path they ran towards, as a large and hungry dragon was on their heels. They were forced toward the craggy lands and soon were faced with unbearable heat. Knowing that this land was not enough to scare off the predator behind them, they began to climb up the mountain side, despite knowing they had little strength left. As they neared the top of the mountain they were blasted by steam and startled back. The mother dragon had been so shocked that the egg she had been holding slipped from her claws and plunged into the lava below. The mother dragon wailed and nearly threw herself into the volcano after her lost dragonling but the father held her back and shook his head. Their first and only dragonling was lost to the waves of lava. With that there was a roar just below them and they had no choice but to continue fleeing. Little did they know that the dragonling that was dropped into the molten liguid, would survive. The lava waves engulfed the little egg but instead of destroying it they gently caressed it until it began to hatch. Pele was raised by the volcano and even became imbued by its power. Instead of her breath being made of flame it is of ash. Because of this she struggled finding a clan to accept her. Clan after clan would chase her out because she would destroy, rather than help and many were already struggling with food.
Personality –Pele is very compassionate but she had a quick temper. She also likes to get even if she feels like another dragon has wronged her in anyway. She loves the plants as much as her mate does and is still amazed at how something as destructive as fire and lava can leave such nutrient filled earth for plants to not only just thrive, but grow stronger. The dragonlings also love to climb on her and snuggle close to her because of how warm she is. Mate – Pele’s mate is Clover. It is believed Clover is attracted to the warmth that naturally emits off Pele. Also, Clover puts Pele’s ash to good use. After being chased out from each place due to how destructive it can be, she is happy to find a dragon who cherishes all of her. Clan Role – Pele is the ambassador for the fire clans that they may occasionally meet with. Pele was always a little confused by this because she knew she was not a fire dragon. If it hadn’t been for the volcano she would have never been associated with fire at all but whenever she tries to talk to Judal about her concerns he just smiles at her patiently and explains that he just knows she is perfect for the job. |
