On the hottest day of summer, a male Dragon rested beneath the trees of an orchard, escaping the heat. As he had no home, he had no real escape from the elements. The Times did not call for a magician... No one wanted to waste their money on card tricks. A sound like a hissing snake awoke the male and he raised his head, listening. It seemed to be coming from everywhere and nowhere at the same time, and it just got louder and louder. Startled, the Dragon leapt to his feet in panic, whipping his head in all directions to find the sound. A red mist rolled in at his ankles, and seemed to be the source of the sound. Suddenly the mist sucked up together in a huge ball, and the hiss became deafening. The male cowered back, hiding his face under his massive wings. And just as suddenly as it began, it was gone. Leaving behind nothing but an eerie silence. The male peeked out from his wings to find a black Crystal egg where the red mist had conjured. How was this possible?! The male had no mate, had not even spoken to a female in more than a year even. This was absurd. This was... Magic? |

Years passed and the little Crystal egg hatched, revealing the wondrous amazement that was Cynfal the Magician. His adoptive father taught him almost everything he knew, knowing fully well this little hatchling would do more with his life than the old card master ever even dreamed of. But there was one thing the Elder did not surrender to his son. A forbidden spell... Some would call a curse. The Forbidden Spell was created in ancient times, before the earth was inhabited by more than 100 dragons. The Forbidden was developed to provide the Selfish Dragon King to capture the love and adoration of even the most beautiful female. Once under the Curse, one may never escape the warm clutches of the Magically Induced Romance. Forever an unknowing slave to overwhelming emotion. Cynfal grew with class but also arrogance. Never had he been rivaled in the whimsy of magic, let alone matched. So when his father announced on his death bed he had something to teach his young son, he scoffed. "You must promise me, to never use such a spell on anyone. I tell you this to only keep you from ignorance." The Elder crooned. Cynfal rolled his eyes but agreed. Promising his father to never use such a spell. He never intended to break it his promise...
