Born of a hushed wish on a cold, cloudless night when the stars shone so bright; they illuminated the birth of a dragon with wings that carried the aurora australis on a breeze, with a belly that tickled like it was dipped in the vast otherworldliness of the galaxies.

When Laputuem said as much to his found-again family Naeroetia just stared skeptically until he sighed. "Okay, fine, just- watch this."

Hush took flight and everyone ooh-ed simultaneously.

"So what do they do?"

"Who, Hush?"

"Yes."

"Uh."


Eventually the naked dragon was given a handful of gifts from adoring clan members. Hush never said a word of thanks, but would lower their head and hum gratefully, resting their chin on Fahraeus' small head and squishing him unintentionally, or giving Cass and Noadae a big, sloppy kiss of gratitude for the goggles.

Nae eventually banged out a couple of solar blades and watched Hush do loop de loops at night with satisfaction. Then, Hush opened their maw for the first time, and pure notes sang out in startling, night-piercing clarity. Nae's jaw dropped. Everyone else's jaws dropped. Lapu was exceedingly smug.

"Hush is a starsinger."

(okay what exactly that means i don't know i was literally making this up as i wrote it)
