When Xxaven was young, he was also training to be a warrior as he aspired to be like his older sister; however, an incident with a rival clan occurred and they kidnapped Xxaven. By the time a furious Luyten showed up to save her little brother (whom she truly just adores), they were about to kill him and had already made a shallow slit in his throat--he still has the scar from it.

Luyten saved her little brother but the experience continued to traumatize him and before long he was deemed unable to be a warrior (as he could not properly face his enemies) and was shamed in the clan; they cut off his hair and he was forced into being an herb collector. It's still an important role since they're used in medicine, but it's a rather lowly one.

Even as a son of the chief he's looked down upon by most of the clan, but most of the dragons know not to give him such looks when Luyten is around; she's still overprotective of him even though they're both adults now and will easily pick a fight with someone if they give him the wrong look. Xxaven still carries the scar from the incident so many years ago but tries to keep it covered with a scarf.

In the clan, wolf and lion headdresses are a symbol of strength and are only to be worn by those who have proved themselves; however, the one Xxaven has was a gift from his sister. He's one of two exceptions in the clan, alongside Momoka. Many have tried to take Xxaven's away because they know he's not worthy but Luyten won't have any of it and no one wants to really pick a fight with her.
