Perhaps the inherent suffering of the 'heir and the spare' system should be observed. Much of Jack's distress would never have come to exist were she not keenly aware of her standing from the moment she was old enough to understand the second-language of adults.

While she is not literate and not a cunning strategist (an unfortunate standout from the other women of her family), Jack makes up for it with a bright earnestness that is impossible to shake. She does not understand the concept of doing something halfway and every action she undertakes has all of her energy thrown behind it. What she lacks in brains she compensates for with raw strength; Jack is capable of catching blades with her bare hands and bending them away without too much damage done to her.

As a young adult, Jack stumbled upon the Rot fragment hidden away, the Katze family treasure; not knowing what to do with it, she was left with the fragment imprinted upon her skin. It has served her well, but it does make it anxious, and Jack has recently sworn to find an equivalent fragment for her wife so that they can live eternal together.

Her relationship with Saskia is a soft and loving one. Jack is immensely protective, and dedicates her days to making Saskia happy. She has given up her near-royal life in order to live in bliss, and regrets nothing about it.
