The heavy smell of smoke and neroli seem to linger in his presence. Some believe him to have ties to the deities, others believe he could be one of them.
Through tangles of thorny brush, past murky swamp water with mysterious creatures lurking beneath the surface. Where the trees no longer seem friendly and huggable, but instead loom over your path with almost an unnatural and menacing darkness. It becomes difficult to see the path in front of you at times. You could swear you were just blinked at by a pair of glowing eyes from between the trees, but when you double take, it seems to have vanished. This is where he resides.
The walls of the hut seem to be made from clay, surely taken from the bayou, but this clay is much darker than any you've seen before. Unlike the sandy color you're familiar with, it's nearly pitch black. The roof seems to be a straw-like material, or so you initially thought. Upon closer inspection, it seems as though it may be feathers. A curtain assembled of beads, dried herbs, and bones takes the place of a door in the entry way. The interior of the hut expands much further than you would have guess from the outside. Lit candles with streams of dripping wax line every shelf, abalone shells and bundles of dried herbs lie about, and what you think are chicken bones are scattered about. Smoke from lit cones on incense fill the air. And somehow, it's silent. Despite the lack of a door, you can no longer hear the sounds of the bayou, no croaking from toads or buzzing of cicadas. It's almost peaceful. Yet, you feel uneasy.
Those who wish to seek his aid tend to bring offerings with them. Goats, chickens, and even dragon eggs, or so you've heard. You wonder what he does with them. Chunks of raw crystals found their home among the candles on the shelving, a leather bound book sits in the center of a desk, with a quill beside it, as well as an inkwell full of a wine colored...ooze? You weren't sure what it was. The book is flipped open to a page scrawled with text and symbols that, quite frankly, don't make any sense to you. You want to flip through the pages, but something keeps you from reaching out and touching it.
