The rosy hatchling stumbled through the Starwood Strand, knowing well of its dangers. However, her mother had sternly ordered her to go. She knew little of what was happening, only that the situation in Crystal Hollow was growing chaotic. Behind her flew large bolts of a cotton-like pink or purple that she barely managed to dodge. Holding the family pet, a mischievous river flight, she had to outrun the faes that soon greyed and crippled as they chased her. After advancing deep into the Strands, she took a rest, waiting for the pain, ache, and noise to subside.

Waking up was no easy feat. It had been about a day's rest for Nami, who was now a matured dragon. But her behavior wasn't all that mature. She stumbled out of the Starwood Strands, looking at the field unobscured by a violet lei of flowers to see all the bodies, the bodies she had no power to revive. Perhaps one of the now unmoving hatchling dragons in the way of the battles was supposed to be the one she would protect. She moved closer to Crystal Hollow and ducked into the nesting grounds.

The site was horrendous. The eggs had rotted, or were destroyed, tears starting to flow out of the arcane-hued eyes. The dens were in devastation, including her family's. Her older brothers, dead. Her father, who had been the first in her family to fall, lay in the center of a dimming rune circle in the hallway that led to a small science lab. Perhaps seeing the memories flash through her head wasn't a good choice.

After staying in the pocket of the lair she called her resting spot for many days, only eating the mice she scavenged nearby, Nami weakly stood on her four legs and moved outside. She wore the scientist's eyewear her mom had produced for her, the lei that could obscure her face when she needed to in the future, and the leg band she wore since she was a child. She never knew that when she matured, she would end up attempting to rule over a group of dragons who survived the chaos. And here she was. A guardian serving the wrong purpose, but possibly fulfilling it-- protecting the dragons of her clan at any cost, would that be considered her charge? Maybe that was her true role in the world.

Nami had only been a hatchling when Crystal Hollow was falling apart due to internal conflict. She received no training or preparation as a future guardian.
Nami is actually the least qualified to be empress, specifically ruler of the Demesne of Hope. Due to being raised during the conflicts of the former Crystal Hollow she didn't receive sufficient training to become a proper guardian. If not for the wiping out of royals in Crystal Hollow and her family's reputation, she would have been a normal guardian or warrior.
