"Remember, dance only with the spinning bones."
So, one could say that Screech, resident interloper and now companion to a very reluctant Banshee (they don't know why, Banshee seems fairly lonely, so...instant companion acquired!), is an unwanted presence in the life of an old, Charge-less Guardian that probably doesn't need to be protected. However, do not spout that to the dragon themself, for they have found their Charge at last whilst wondering through the Scarred Wasteland, seeking someone or something worthy of their protection. And, in most cases, a convicted murderer would not be high among the list of candidates for Screech's companionship.
But shh, they have no clue that the bone-white, blood winged Guardian is a murderer. In fact, the first thing that sprang to Screech's mind was the elderly Guardian's look of exhaustion that somehow maintains itself, even after a good night's sleep. To her, Screech might be that confusing puzzle, as, this impulsive, unpredictable Guardian would not normally have even given her the time of day. Yet, here they are, the decision poorly-thought out and simply followed through, as Screech does not often ignore their gut sensation. And the sensation they got with Banshee? The need, that urge that Guardians are rumored to feel, to protect. And thus, voila, Screech had their Charge, their first, and they hope to be sure, only Charge.
Along with being somewhat impulsive, this intuitive, unpredictable dragon often follows their whims, or at the very best, can make an unexpected action for seemingly no reason. If there is one for that action, Screech has yet to find one, and it does not help that the young Guardian does not communicate well with others. Thus, it is hard for them to interpret the elder's varying body language signs and the clicks she sounds, and often ends with the younger companion misinterpreting the signs and doing the opposite of what she wants--one of the signs, for instance, met go away, but Screech stayed on--but that's more likely because Banshee is their charge than anything else. So, not quite friends with the elder, but also neither enemies nor strangers, Screech is at best an acquaintance, and at worse, an annoyance, not that they'd know.
