Biography

tumblr_inline_mzxpsh9lZN1st17vy.gif Mangle
Occupation: Bookbinder
Flight: Earth
Allegiance: Plague

Mangle grew up in a family of cultists, unfortunate dragons who were less zealous than trapped in a role her careless father dragged them all into. Anointed with oils and blood and forced to watch the gruesome rituals of her kin and clan throughout her formative years, there is little reason to wonder why Mangle grew up desperate to leave the confines of her occult home. Though a Mirror and the daughter of one of the most ruthless her breed has to offer, there is a very definite line in the sand she does not care to cross and she’s watched her siblings and birth clan practically dance across it.

The one thing that has stuck with her, however, is the binding of books. It’s a strange skill to have, especially when one is prone to open wounds on account of an illness, but one that has been drilled into her since the moment her former mentor realized what deft little claws she had. Considering how important spellbooks and grimoires were to her birth clan, it makes a certain sort of sense that they would bother to force her to learn the task, even if she questions why they chose her of all dragons.

Now, it is a therapeutic sort of hobby, rarely needed outside of her own whims as she gathers together ruined tomes from ages passed and pieces together scraps of parchment for journals and diaries. Most of what she makes has a sort of sinister charm to it, with stitched together covers made of crude and untreated hides and charms crafted from battered beads and finger bones. Some say that the work she produces thrums with a dark energy, one that the more vile dragons find comforting and others find eerie but inspiring.

In terms of personality, Mangle isn’t one for conversation. She is somewhat homesick despite her reservations about her family, and her mind is often preoccupied with wondering how her father fares, her mother, her brother, her twin sister. It goes without saying that she can be quite the downer, a morose face in a sea of smiles just trying to hang on to what little she has left of her old life, cringing at the thought of returning but riddled with guilt at having left in the first place.
