Biography

Briar has never truly known her place in the world. She was born somewhere in the crystalspine mountains, but she was whisked away from there at such an early age that she hardly remembers the event at all. She grew up among a plague coven, it was a dangerous way of life for such a small young fae, but from her upbringing she learned much about survival and strength. Dont let her small frame fool you, she is perfectly capable of taking care of herself, thank you very much. The magic she knows is crude, untamed and wild. This may have worked fine for her Plague counterparts, but due to her Arcane nature, her magic was especially uncontrollable and dangerous. It was becoming clear that if she didn't learn how to control her powers, the arcane energy would warp her and take over her mind, destroying much in the process. One starry night she was out flying above the trees, hoping the cool air would help her think over the day's explosions. Suddenly, a stream of bright pink whizzed through the air, right past her frills, and crashed onto the forest floor. Quick as an arrow she zipped through the air to the crash site, curiosity burning behind her eyes. To her surprise, what she found there was a tiny arcane sprite, beaten and bruised, wings crumpled from the impact. Briar's heart ached to see such a delicate creature so wounded, and she quickly got the sprite back home. She noticed something small in the sprite's hand, but she paid it no mind, there were much more urgent things to attend too. Thanks to her Plague knowledge, the sprite recovered. Though the creatures wings would never again be fully functional. "Do you have a name?" Briar inquired. The sprite simply shrugged. "Well then in that case, can I call you Comet? That's what it looked like when you fell!" the sprite seemed pleased with the name, and so it was. Shortly afterwards, Briar was finally examining the small item Comet had been holding when they had been found. It was a small crystal of some sort, with so many facets inside it looked like there was an entire galaxy within. She gazed into the stone with wonder, but it was cut short by a piercing headache. The crystal clattered to the floor as Briar clutches her head in pain, wings quivering as she too fell to the ground. She thought she could see Comet buzzing frantically though the tears welling up in her eyes, but she blacked out before she could be sure. Briar awoke, and everything around her was cold and black. She carefully took a step into the inky darkness, and her footstep echoed as if she was walking on thin glass. Her fear growing, she took a few more steps before a voice broke the endless silence. "You are deep in the darkness, young one. You can never truly know, until you know yourself.." The voice echoed away, and Briar wondered what it could mean. She looked down in thought, and was startled to see another dragon looking up at her. She sighed with relief as she realized that it was simply her own reflection. "Wait a moment.. Know myself? Hmmm" following the trail of a thought, she bent down too see the reflection better. She reached out with a claw, and recoiled a little when cold water rippled away beneath her touch. Gathering herself, she plunged into the blackness, everything spun and flipped around for a moment, and she realized she had emerged from a pool. She gazed in awe at the towering trees around her. Their pale bark glowed softly in the darkness, leaves above glowing blue like tiny stars. Is this.. The starwood strand? I've only read about this place!" she looked around, wanting to remember what she was seeing. The pool of water she had emerged from was crystal clear, reflecting the stars and leaves above. "Seek out the place where the stars grace the earth, for that is where knowledge lies in wait.." the voice echoed in her head as everything faded away. |
