Biography
For some reason that she’s never managed to articulate or even explain to herself, Garnet's always felt like she should be able to be in two places at once. Perhaps, if she’d been hatched in an Arcane nest, she’d be able to do it. As it is, she inherited entirely different secrets from her birth in Light.
Named for the gem she resembles, Garnet is traveling across Sornieth, searching for any bit of magic, lore, or artifact that might help her learn to be in two places at once.... or that might help her stop expecting to be able to, because it’s really quite annoying to always have to remind herself that, no, she can’t go do that other thing, because she’s busy doing this thing!
On occasion, various dragons she’s met in her travels have joked that she should have hatched a Guardian, and she wonders, sometimes, if there might be something to that. If she were a Guardian, would it help her search, or hinder it? Would she stop feeling so... limited, if she were not a Spiral?
Slightly closer friends, to whom she has voiced this thought, have suggested that maybe it means she should have been a pearlcatcher. After all, a pearlcatcher’s pearl can technically be away from the pearlcatcher, and pearlcatchers believe all sorts of things about their pearls...?
She thinks that’s nonsense, though. She hatched in Light! She knows pearlcatchers very, very well. None of them have ever even hinted at anything that even slightly resembles what she so clearly feels she is missing.
