Mia
Of the Night Sky Clan
Mia is a young clan member who has taken up the delicate art of foraging as her profession. She and her familiar Florence have a tendency to whistle while they gather edible leaves, roots, and fruits, which most of their clan mates enjoy. The Way is a close friend of Mia, and finds the whistling particularly uplifting; she will often join in on the song if she hears Mia nearby. (However, The Way is not nearly as adept at mimicking birdcalls.) On the other hand, Elysium finds Mia particularly annoying when he is trying to study or work, even though she gathers the plants that are essential for him. Mia also plays the pipeflute.
Although Mia is unable to speak, she possesses rudimentary reading and writing ability. Sadly, this does not make it much easier to communicate with the other members of her clan: most of the other dragons are illiterate. However, she has mastered the skill of indicative gesture, and more often than not her clanmates are able to understand her hand and wing motions, and expressions. But of course, Mia's innermost thoughts, questions, and opinions often go unheard. For this reason, she keeps a journal, and will often pester Elysium into a "conversation" consisting of her writing and him speaking, although the older dragon is rather single minded and consistently attempts to steer towards the topic of medicine over and over again. Thankfully, he is often able to impart interesting knowledge about herbs, and Mia hasn't fallen victim to any of his magical mishaps - yet.
