Biography
Most pearlcatchers are gentle creatures with a taste for gossip and the finer things in life. They are cowardly creatures who flee from battles or attack only when they have the advantage. Their predictability has led them to be something of a joke on the battlefield. Enemy beast clans are known to take down pearlcatcher clans easier than any other dragon clan. So to find a pearlcatcher that battles tooth and claw with seeming relish is something of a shock. Blaise is that pearlcatcher. As a hatchling, he lived in a clan of dragons living perilously close to a serthis beast clan. His first clan, however, was not aware of the danger. When there was an attack one night, Blaise had the expected flight reaction. In his wild bid for escape from the battle, he hid with a group of fellows. The serthis attack force found them and Blaise only escaped by the fur of his tail. The others he had taken refuge with were killed. With the deaths of his fellow clan members on his claws, he spent some time in his home clan lamenting about the events of the attack. Many nights were spent awake and playing over the events, wondering what he could have done differently. When he finally emerged from the cycle of guilt, he was no longer the same dragon. Much to the dismay of his surviving kin, he began taking an active interest in physical combat. In short order, he was kicked out of his clan for going against the natural order of things and becoming too much like the lower dragons of other breeds. Looking for a home, Blaise came to rest at what was known as the EchoFlower clan of the Everbloom Gardens. In short order, his sudden interest in battle caught the eye of a female mirror who found him incredibly interesting. She took him under her wing and offered to fine-tune his battle skills. Learning quickly, Blaise began to develop a relationship with Rush. When Rush's mate Snark left the clan, it was short order before the pearlcatcher began courting the impressive mirror. Though it may have seemed to take a while, Rush actually took no time at all to court the pearlcatcher back. The other pearlcatchers in the clan are easier for Blaise to talk to but they are As if his training was meant for something great all along, the clan fell under threat of attack from a serthis beast clan. Although the majority of the clan attended a meeting and decided to move territories, the clan leader Valentino refused. With the looming threat on the horizon, Blaise trained harder than ever to make sure he didn't see any of his new clan fall to a serthis attack. When the day came and he found himself on the front lines he fought bravely and madly, earning the trust and respect of his fellows easily. While he and Rush frequently go into the wilds and hunt for food with Matcha, they also have nests more frequently than Rush had ever before. Their new life on the road offers many opportunities, one of them being hatchling care by the extended family of dragons traveling through the Gladekeeper's realm. Because of this, Rush and Blaise are free to go hunting, protect the clan, and enjoy each other's company even when they have a brood of hatchlings. Blaise enjoys being in the traveling troupe and frequently forgets he's a pearlcatcher, if his open and welcoming nature has anything to say about it. He easily converses with imperials while other pearlcatchers nearly unanimously refuse to talk with him, with the exception of Basil. Blaise even enjoys Matcha's company, indulging her on her tea experiments and helping her gather ingredients when there is a lull in battle. |
