The Timekeeper of Ice
Calm, Mysterious, Kind.
Once a member of a thieves guild as a hatchling, Vatrel was talented at squirming his way through the smallest nooks and crannies to find treasure. But a wayward expedition into the heart of the Southern Icefields left him frozen together with a doll containing the spirit of a young dragon who had died before she hatched. When the ice melted, he found himself to have grown into an adult, and the little dragon's doll had taken the form of an adult Wildclaw. Promising to show her the world, Vatrel stepped out of the cavern with Sung in hand, and ventured off for the outside world.
As Sung's guardian, Vatrel never leaves her side unless circumstances force him to do so. Because Sung's existence practically teeters on whether or not someone remembers her, he vows to always remember and cherish her existence. While he is friendly and sociable enough, after such a long time trapped in the ice, he has become somewhat of a nervous wreck at times and is unsure of how to socialize with the extremely sociable (or unsociable). His past as a thief is a bit awkward for him to discuss, so he tends to avoid the subject. His physical ability is somewhat weakened and he has some difficulty with terrains that are much different from that of the Icefields. However, he still remembers his training from the thieves, and uses those skills to protect Sung as best as he can.
Originating from the Tangled Wood and with a childhood of thievery behind him, Vatrel has some proficiency with shadow magic but prefers to use his own ability to overcome obstacles. He practices it on a daily basis but is still awkward about using it. Due to being frozen in the ice for a long time, his eyes changed to that of an ice dragon somehow and with the Icewarden's blessings, he became able to also use ice magic. He has less control over it and it tends to go out of control sometimes but it is also more offense oriented than his shadow magic, which is focused around stealth and support.
