Though raised in the Stormcatcher's domain, the ever shifting expanse never truly felt like his home. His egg was found abandoned by a local ridgeback clan, just outside the border of the Flamecaller's domain, and hatched into a sickly looking nocturne after being taken in by the clan's leader, Teslak.

In his efforts to quell the restless feeling inside of him he ventured into flamecaller's territory where he met a lone coatl. Fascinated, he returned to his clan and all but begged the clan's mage to transform him into a coatl, she agreed under the condition that the young dragon focus better on his duties. The next night, emboldened by his new form, he sought out the coatl again. Finally stumbling across him inside a nest near a magma vent, filling the stifling air with the raucous sound of chirping. Expecting a warm welcome from his fellow coatl, he was taken completely by surprise when the coatl nest immediately attacked him and drove him from the territory.
