By the time Cass joined the clan, Serafina had been through a great many mates. Some lasted longer than others, but all had moved on. Accordingly, few of the other dragons gave Cass much more than a glance at first.

It quickly became apparent that Cass had a great deal of natural talent for cooking. He inserted himself into the planning of banquets, and was able to somehow keep track of the many ingredients in the large food storage. Before long, few meals were prepared without his input, as he would add just a dash of flavor to even the most boring of dishes.

Some of the dragons even reluctantly learned his name.
