B I O G R A P H Y
Juliana was an ambitious sorceress who meddled with things she didn't entirely understand and paid the price. A piece of the Shade is lodged deep in her heart and it stole her sight and mind. She spent months wandering in a daze, indiscriminately killing those she came across, beast or dragon. When she finally regained her senses, she fled to the Tangled Wood in horror, determined to live all alone where she could never harm anyone again. Despite all her precautions, a young warrior who had also had a run-in with the Shade found her, seeking help. She had no cure for him, but she used what magic she could to keep him from losing his mind as she had. The two fell in love and he gave her hope, convincing her to finally leave the woods where she hid. They now live together in a Nature clan where the welcoming matriarch has allowed them to stay and uses powerful magic to slow the spread of their sickness. Juliana is grateful, but suspicious of such generous assistance to strangers. She is also lonely and bitter that most of the rest of the clan regards with suspicion and fear and avoids her. She tries to cover the dark markings that are evidence of her Shade sickness with bandages and fur, but knows that it's no use. All she has is Avalon and her hatchlings, and they quickly leave the clan once grown to find somewhere they can live without the stigma of Shade-touched parents. She can't begrudge her children a better life, but sometimes she wishes that just one would stay with her and not run away.
