Frozen Lakes

an Ice Flight subspecies
![]() ![]() ![]() |
Long ago, when Icewarden had first claimed our frozen lands, many dragons were lost to the waters. After the shattering of the Pillar, many strange forces permeated the land... and the water. Occassionally, a dragon who became lost on the ice and fell through into the depths would sink into a pocket of one of these lingering energies. Their bodies were transformed, their last breath freezing inside them, marking them forever with the cause of their demise and their own internal state. Ice crept through their bodies, freezing into patterns reflecting the waters in which the new Frozen Lake was transformed. Still waters settled into solid white ice, while moving waters caused ripples in the freezing body. Wings slowly took on the color of the surrounding waters. Even the eyes became a reflection of the sky, the last sight of the world above, viewed from under the surface. The energies poured even through the dragon's breath, solidifying the soul and forming cracks in the now icy body which reflected the living dragon's final thoughts. Those who froze with hatred, fear, or anger in their final moment rose once more, becoming Sirens with an overwhelming desire to draw the living towards the same fate. Those who had only regret or sorrow also rose again, but as Protectors, driven to prevent others from sharing their demise. Dragons who were apathetic towards their own fate also had that trait forever etched into their beings... arising only to rest on the shores where they lost their breath as Ethereal beings, disconnected observers of the world around them. --by JenKenobi ![]() Crystal is for Frozen Lake dragons that prefer to live constantly above the surface, but very closely to the water, still. So their skin/scales/hide glisten in the sun. They're the most ethereal dragons - if they had lives before becoming a Frozen Lake, they utterly forget everything about it, remaining with only small traces of their former personalities. If not careful, they completely lose themselves. If they are born Frozen Lakes, they preferably should go stay with other clans to properly "live", otherwise, they become fading spirits whose only attribute and purpose is to stare at the lake/shore they live in. They become blurred images, frozen souls that merely glisten under the sun. To put it simply, this variant represents both the oldest lost souls and the youngest, newly born, souls. Facet represents the frozen waters where all these dragons are bound to. From Storm to Teal, the blue tones of a Frozen Lake's wings vary with a few influences.
Crackle represents snow and the cracks in the icy surface where the dragons last walked over. White tertiary is for protector Frozen Lakes, the ones that guide the living creatures to snowy grounds. |
