Having shown incredible potential even as a child, it was no surprise that Junmin became one of the dreamers. Sadly, Junmin's peers were cruel in their jealousy of his natural talent, something that dampened the enjoyment he got out of his magic for a long time. Baz, however, was nothing like the cruel and jealous hatchlings, and instead befriended Junmin in their shared experience of cruelty. Baz's cruel treatment, was for his lack of talent, and in him Junmin saw an exact, less skilled mirror of himself. Junmin's efforts to help Baz in order to get the bullying towards him to stop furthered their friendship, as the two were nearly inseparable. As the two grew older, Junmin found himself able to cast even the most difficult spells with ease, and Baz had greatly improved his own skills.

The two had improved so much together, that there was nothing but excitement for the adventure trials, where the young mages were to be sent out in pairs in order to discover something new about Sorineth for themselves. They journeyed from Dragonhome to the Ashfall Wastes, and all over until they came back into the Starfall Isles, where they met Adhara, the love of Junmin's life. Though much of his time is dedicated to his love of her and their magical crafts together, Junmin always finds time to go help Baz, his best friend.

Junmin leafed through the pages of Baz’s book, intently reading the text and nearly illegibly scribbled notes Baz took on each page. His brow crinkled as his eyes stared at a diagram explaining the process of casting a spell. It was boring, reading what he already knew, but according to the old sayings, he wasn’t good enough. What was that quote again?
“When one truly understands something, they are able to effortlessly teach it to other dragons and help them understand the concepts.”
Junmin sighed as he turned the page and scanned across the next spread of pages. He could understand it and perform it effortlessly, but he couldn’t explain it to others. He wanted to, but he just… Couldn’t. It was as if there was a magical invisible barrier separating his words from the other dragons, bouncing them back and failing to deliver his message to others. Was it his jokes? His way of speaking? His posture? It wasn’t just him. It was the others, too… Or was it? He just found it difficult to communicate, and he was almost certain that others found it hard to speak with him too. Where was he again? Page 56… A guide on the uses of Morganite, one of his favourite magic-bearing stones. He had once found a small shimmering shard of it as a hatchling on the floor of his lair, and that was the very first time others paid attention to him, praising him for finding such rare material and patting his head. The last time he was praised by someone he didn’t know… But it was shattered as soon as he joked about the shard being shaped like a Teardrop Owlynx dropping. No. He had to focus on reading. What if this was all an illusion he created by accident? His thoughts kept scattering. If he wanted to help others, he had to give it his all…
“Junmin! You okay there?”
Junmin felt a poke on his shoulder, and then his ears picked up the melodious ‘clink’ of a glass bottle being placed on his desk. A swirling dark pink liquid filled up most of the bottle.
“Drink up! I made a happiness potion just for you! I bet you’ll feel more cheerful after this.”
Junmin shut his eyes and took a sip of the liquid Adhara passed him.
“This… This is raspberry juice!”
“Hah, did you really think I had a recipe for happiness potions? If I did, I’d get ten times as many customers as I get regularly. It did work though, right?”
Junmin smiled as he finished the rest of the ‘potion’ in a single gulp.
“It did. That’s the fun in alchemy, huh? You’ll never know until you try.”
“Right back at you. You don’t have to study books to become a great teacher. Just show them the spells instead of telling them. Simply do whatever is natural for you, Junmin.”
