Biography

Clement
of the City

Clement is the super dinky hubby of Fleur who is more commonly known by the nickname she gave him, " Gumball". While Wildclaws are often characterized by their ferocity, he's incredibly gentle and prefers to work in the hatchery. His gembond condition makes fast movements painful so he probably wouldn't be suited for combat regardless. Clement has even attempted to go vegetarian on multiple occasions (with mixed results).

In his former life, Clement was a Light priest who specialized in the interpretation of ancient texts and languages but felt the need to serve some sort of higher calling . He very nearly went to serve the Lightweaver. However, he felt alienated by the zealism latent in many sects and though it was antithetical to what Light dragons cherish most, knowledge. Shutting out other regions seemed to him, to be closing the door to intellectual exchange. Not to mention all the violent fighting he felt so opposed to as a clergydrake (and so unable to do well because of his condition).

While Clement wrestled with these issues, he chanced upon Fleur who showed up at his church, looking for spiritual guidance far from her homeland. She was seemingly so similar to him, a rosy-hued wildclaw around his age but as it would play she was (in true Arcane fashion) full of surprises. She had a demure, soft air to her but really she was an exuberant force and formerly a soldier, with a niche specialty for nonverbal incantations of her muteness. Aside from writing, she used a form of sign language as her primary means of communication. Clement was shocked that in all his studies he had no previous fluency in this form of communication and took to it eagerly.

As Clement's sign language improved they exchanged more and more stories and jokes. And as they found out more about each other they fell in love. Clement finally felt he had found his higher calling, working alongside Fleur in the hatchery and educating others on the merits of sign languages.
