Personality
▬▬▬▬▬▬ Merry is a jovial sort, frequently called mad. He certainly enjoys life and all it has to offer, which includes the great vastness of !!SCIENCE!!. Unfortunately for everyone else, this is what he fixates on the most, prone to running off on wild tangents to anyone who sets him off and coming up with wild ideas that should never work. Somehow, however, they always do. His 'job', if he can be said to have one in the medical complex of Aperta, is to basically sit down and have all his random and unworkable ideas. While most work for him, a few of these are even replicable enough to be put into general use, such as the brain scanner. One of the more unfortunate points of his personality is an occasional tendency to suffer 'episodes' where he will lock himself in his workshop for weeks, with little food and no sleep. During this time, he also tends to exhibit a marked reduction is his capacity to feel empathy and compassion, frequently demanding that those who disturb him assist him in his more medically-based experiments by being the guinea pigs. These are, in fact, symptoms of a rare mental disorder that Pipistrelle promptly diagnosed him with, and that he takes a certain amount of medication to try and control: Episodic Sociopathy and Irriplicable Experimentation Disorder (ESIED). |

History
▬▬▬▬▬▬ Merry was born into what he repeatedly refers to as a very boring childhood. Any actual information is sparse, up until he crossed from Plaguelands into the Arcane region of Sornieth. He crossed rather closely to the very small collection of dragons that was Aperta at the time, still living in a large, hollowed out crystal in the Reaches. As they were a scholarly clan at the time, Merry jumped on board and has been a part of the clan even through their brief settlement of the Strand. He truly found his calling, however, shortly after Aperta finished its long journey to the Stormcatcher's realm, where all many of technological wonders are seen at a rate of about five a minute. Merry lost himself in the maelstrom of his own magic, but this time with the excitement and friendship of a clan just settling into it's forever home and new purpose. Merry is responsible for a great deal of technological innovations used in Aperta on a day-to-day basis, including the brain scanner, the chemical analysis machines, and specialised machines that temporarily replace the patient's heart or lungs to keep them alive while undergoing surgery on those organs. Despite his 'episodes' causing a great deal of annoyance and occasional need for intervention, the clan would not wish to see him leave. |

On a hunch while
'OH!' he shouts. 'Osseov mentioned seeing a fleeing familiar earlier, but didn't get a good look at it. Apparently, it dropped a load of sprockets, and he handed one to me. Why don't you check around, it's probably in here somewhere.' Despite the clutter, you manage to find a sprocket that looks very out of place. A quick check of the serial code printed on it confirms. It might be time to get out of here now, in case the lunatic's off his meds again... |
