Fairytale honestly couldn't help but laugh at the irony of his name. Because boy, he thought of himself as anything but a fairytale. He wasn't one to deny the improbable (he couldn't help but be a realist), and as such, he simply couldn't just deny his love of cynicism.

Snarky remarks were Fairytale's best friend, and everyone in his clan knew it. In fact, almost all of the Tangled Woods knew it. It wouldn't even be a stretch to say that a good portion of the rest of the world knew as well. It was hard not to, considering how Fairytale was one of the most successful writers in all of Sornieth, known for his satirical works and sarcastic, yet timely and appropriate, comebacks. One would have to be literally living under a rock to have not at least heard of his name.

Thankfully, Fairytale took care to remain level-headed and on solid ground as he gained more and more popularity, making sure that he thoroughly thought through all of his words in an attempt not to offend anyone too deeply.

"Hey, Fairytale! It looks like like your latest work has become popular in Light Flight."

"Oh, I'm sure it has."

His inspiration for his masterpieces of writing? Well, the very fact that he was a walking, talking contradiction. With his colors, Fairytale looked liked he belonged in an Arcane or Light lair. Definitely not Shadow. His name didn't help. Not a chance. As soon as he was at the age where he could appropriately produce self-depreciating jokes, yet make them with enough flair that they didn't come across as self-depreciating, he used them at every opportunity presented.

And what type of literature did he write? Fairytales, of course! Fairytales that violated the very rules of fairytales themselves (much like himself, actually). Fairytales about young princess dragons who were trapped in castles, or towers, or dungeons, or barn houses, or their basements, or their bedrooms... Yeah, he was running out of stereotypes to make fun of.

"... And they all lived happily ever after. The end."

"... Fairytale, that wasn't exactly a happy ending."

"Oh, it wasn't?"

"No... The princess gets stuck in her own her castle with no stairs, no key, food, water, or a bathroom, while her evil stepmother reigns supreme for the rest of eternity. In what sense is that 'happily every after'?"

"It's being realistic."
